About Us

The Chippewa Valley Coalition for Youth and Families
    Our Mission:
The Chippewa Valley Coalition for Youth and Families joins school and community in promoting safe, healthy and drug free youth and supporting families.
    More About Us:
The Chippewa Valley Coalition for Youth and Families, an anti-drug coalition, serves the geographic area of Chippewa Valley Schools and includes parts of Clinton and Macomb Townships. The Coalition was awarded a federal Drug Free Communities Grant from the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in September 2009. Coalition efforts are also supported by donations and funds raised.
The Coalition includes representation of all sectors of the community. Coalition members work together to reduce youth use of alcohol, marijuana and other drugs and youth prescription drug abuse by implement long-term environmental strategies to create community change.
    Current Coalition Subcommittees:
We thank the many Coalition volunteers and representatives of our community partners that contribute their time and talents to the following subcommittees:
The Interfaith/Chippewa Valley Partnership, a network joining the Coalition with 22 local churches
Parents Who Host… Lose the Most, working to educate parents and community dangers of youth alcohol use
Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Committee, focusing on prevention education, community awareness and access reduction
Marijuana Prevention Committee, focusing on prevention education, community awareness and access reduction
Parents Corner Video series, creating prevention video materials in collaboration with the Community Relations Dept. of Chippewa Valley Schools
Youth Involvement – Coalition Teen Councils (CTC)
There is a Coalition Teen Council (CTC) comprised of students at each of the 3 high schools in Chippewa Valley Schools – Chippewa Valley, Dakota, and Mohegan High Schools. Student members of the CTCs initiate drug prevention programming at their schools, engage in outreach to younger students, and provide the “voice of youth” for the Coalition.
