Parents, School, and Community Together! Keeping Our Youth Safe and Alcohol-Free

April 18, 2017

A Press Conference, sponsored by the Chippewa Valley Coalition for Youth and Families in collaboration with the Macomb County Office of Substance Abuse and CARE of SE Michigan was a big success! It was held at Clinton Township Police Department and launched the Coalition's campaign - Parents, School and Community Together!  Keeping our Youth Save and Alcohol Free – before prom and graduation and during April, Alcohol Awareness Month. Reporters from print and broadcast media (Channel 4 and Fox News) were present.

It ended with a send-off of Coalition Teen Council members and Clinton Township Police and Sheriff's Dept. officers to visit local alcohol (and tobacco) vendors to remind them not sell underage.

The Press Conference and retailer's visits are part of a broad-based campaign to educate parents, students, school staff and community about the dangers of underage drinking.

Thanks to participants in the Press Conference – US Congressman Sandy Levin, Clinton Twp. Supervisor Bob Cannon, Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith, Clinton Twp. Police Chief Fred Posavetz, Capt. David Kennedy/Macomb County Sheriff's Dept., John Myers III, Manager/CJ Barrymore's, and Alisa Twomey and Mike Valenta/Coalition Teen Council members.

Thanks to members of our Coalition Youth Alcohol Committee for planning the Campaign and all other Coalition members that made the Press Conference possible.
